AMEX STADIUM WINS TOP AWARD!
The American Express Community Stadium is among the winners of the Structural Steel Design Awards 2011

The award was presented to Brighton & Hove Albion Chief Executive Martin Perry.  Martin Perry said, "The design of the stadium is all about the roof so to receive one of the country's top awards for roof design is a huge accolade and I congratulate the designers, KSS Architects and SKM on their innovative design.  Already our new home is being recognised nationally as a superb example of stadium architecture, one of the best in the country and we should all be very proud of it."

The judging panel added, "This building provides a long-awaited home for Brighton & Hove Albion FC with community facilities. A large structure, with a curving roof and main trusses, it sits comfortably into the rolling South Downs, while the blue translucent roof shows off the well-executed roof steelwork.  A well-conceived and executed steelwork project, demonstrating close and effective co-operation in the team, it brings success for the client and public."

With the grass on the pitch and the seats in the stands, the American Express Community Stadium has transformed from a building site to a stadium.  The padded seats installed in the stands guarantee a visit to the Amex will be a day of comfort for every fan regardless of the tension on the pitch.  The pitch itself is one of the biggest in the country and has the same dimensions as Wembley.
