London 2012 Olympic Torch Tour Comes To Brighton

Lloyds TSB’s London 2012 Olympic Torch Tour brought a taster of the excitement of the Olympic Torch Relay to the vast crowds who gathered on Brighton seafront for the chance to see a prototype of the Olympic torch.

Visitors to the interactive exhibition at The Old Paddling Pool by the West Pier on Brighton seafront spanned the generations and included prospective Olympians and Paralympians.

People were taken on a journey through Olympic Torch Relay history with torches from past Relays and also had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the prototype London 2012 Olympic Torch.

All were invited to share in the thrilling journey by nominating someone who’s made a difference in their local community to carry the Olympic Flame as part of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.  Experienced Lloyds TSB representatives were on hand to advise visitors how to make a supporting nomination video in the Lloyds TSB taxi.

The Olympic Torch Relay will be a 70-day celebration, starting in the UK on 18 May 2012, travelling thousands of miles and bringing the London 2012 Games to almost every community across the UK. In 2012, the Relay is scheduled to visit Brighton and Hove on 16 July.

95% of the UK population will be within a one-hour journey of the Olympic Flame and 8,000 members of the public will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to carry the Flame, and with it a message of peace, hope, respect and friendship.
