Steve Cram To Start Brighton Marathon

Steve Cram announced as Official Starter of the Brighton Marathon on Sunday April 10.

 

It has been announced, that 1980's World Champion, Steve Cram, is to start this years Brighton Marathon 2011, with a bang.

Cram was crowned World Championship Gold in 1983 for the 1500m and described as one of Britains three great middle distance stars.

 In 1984, Steve Cram suffered from a back injury and made a speedy recovery to collect Silver in the Los Angeles Olympics. The star also broke the world record in 1985 in the 1500m and 2000m, with an astonishing time of 3 min 46.32sec.

Today, the World Champion now broadcasts for the BBC and participates as a TV commentator, coach and sports politician. 

On April 10th Cram will be following in the footsteps of  World Record holder (Steve Ovett) to do the honours of beginning the Brighton Marathon.
