BRIGHTON HALF MARATHON 2012

This very special Olympic year sees runner’s places increase to 12,000

The Brighton Half Marathon is one of the longest established and most popular seafront road race events in the UK, the first major half marathon of the new year and perfectly suited as a warm up for all the spring marathons. The new flatter, faster route, mostly along the seafront, received a lot of praise and positive feedback from runners with lots of new PBs achieved.

Partners confirmed so far for the 2012 Brighton Half Marathon include Brooks, Sweatshop, VisitBrighton, Juice 107.2 FM, The Argus, Studio57 and Brighton & Hove City Council. The Brighton Half Marathon is organised by and the main fundraiser for The Sussex Beacon.

The race was started by the local running clubs until the Sussex Beacon took over the event in 2004. Times have changed since the beginning when we used to start the race at the Marina car park with 200 runners! In 2008 we introduced the Youth Races, these have proved to be very popular and we are delighted that some of the City’s upcoming stars have participated in the races.

22nd Brighton Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 19th February 2012
